Sorbet lemons, zingy orange, bright turquoise and hot pink – summer at Monsoon is looking particularly sweet. I love the combination of pretty summer colours over floaty chiffon skirts, silk shirts and oversized clutch bags. Big stripes and block colours will still be popular as will maxi and midi lengths.
Floral prints over jumpsuits and even two-piece suits, nipped in waists and kimono sleeves (or sleeveless shift dresses silhouettes) hint at a seventies vibe, accentuated by the big straw sun hats. The luminous orange, blue and hot pink hinted at shades of Matthew Williamson about it, so I wasn’t surprised to learn that the head designer has joined Monsoon straight from the designer label.
The colour pop continued into Accessorize, which is reliable as ever for producing a lust-after collection of bags, shoes and jewellery. A definite beach hut vibe was going down (accentuated by the styling) and I definitely got a hint of Moroccan influence. Love the orange tones, which would look amazing teamed with a dress in next season’s hot colour – Yves Klein blue.
