The 85th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, NYC

Sonic the Hedgehog opens the parade
 Buzz Lightyear comes into view
Cee Lo Green wishes us a Happy Thanksgiving
 A classic balloon – Pillsbury Dough Boy
 Sponge Bob Square Pants – complete with moving legs
 Ship Ahoy! The first Mickey Mouse balloon appeared in the parade in 1934. The first parade was held in 1924 
 We loved Kung Fu Panda
New for this year – the Paul Frank Monkey ‘Julius’
 Alabama cheerleaders – the marching bands were from lots of different states

 New for this year – Tim Burton’s B.Boy
 Gotta love a Smurf!

The final, and most anticipated float, it’s Santa!

It was a beautiful day, but there was a definite chill so I was glad I had my snuggly coat on and my satchel made it easy to reach for my camera. We got to our spot, near Columbus Circle and Seventh, for about 830am. You need to go earlier to be right by the barrier but we could see most things and had a fantastic time. Thanksgiving is really an amazing time to be in New York.
