Going to the Shore

There’s nothing like a day at the beach and whilst staying in New Jersey it seemed like the obvious Sunday thing to do to take a trip to Jersey Shore. We drove along towards Long Island (the one South of New York) and through a few ghost town type beachside residences. About one and a half hours from the city we reached Seaside Heights – very quiet, nice boardwalk, beautifully sandy beach. It had a delightfully tacky air about it that you can only appreciate at the seaside, with the weathered rusting effect only adding to it’s charm. It was peaceful – the opposite of what this place is like in the summer, with it’s plethora of amusement rides (click link above to see what it looks like in the holidays). We ate fried chicken and strolled along the sand, enjoying the warm autumn sun.

I was wearing my new Emu Australia boots which, true to claims, are waterproof and hardy and still look brand new even after an afternoon on the beach. I predict they will be serving me well as the winter chill sets in this side of the Atlantic. Gorgeous soft sheepskin, love the chestnut colour with dark denim.
The funniest thing is; we have only just realised that Seaside Heights is the actual, original filming location of the MTV show Jersey Shore. Of all the shores in all of Jersey, we had to hit up theirs…

Those foot prints look like they're standing out from the sand
