Hello. I’m Catherine…
FashTravels: My holiday ideas + everyday adventures
I’m a Yorkshire-born, London-living, ex-magazine style editor and current freelance writer. I’ve worked for magazines in print and digital lifestyle journalism since 2010, travelling as much as possible, both for and outside of work, and always excited to share stories of my adventures; whether in London, or a train or plane ride away. My day job is as celebrity and talent manager at the NSPCC and Childline, as well as mum to my daughter, Evie.
I studied fashion journalism at university and started my career as a fashion assistant, where I gained the nickname ‘FashCatherine’, hence the ‘Fash’ part of ‘FashTravels‘. I started this website back in 2009, during an ‘alternative media’ university class that taught us ‘how to set up a blog’. When I graduated, and wanted to see the world, the content of mine naturally evolved from fashion to travel, and now onwards to travel and adventure inspiration and opinion.
Since falling pregnant with Evie, in 2017, I realised that (cliché) every day really is an adventure; and not always the kind that you might expect. So, the site has expanded to include my blogging about family life, mainly to share tips I would have loved to have read; from what to pack in your suitcase when going on holiday with a newborn to where in London is good to take a baby, and whether the tube exits have a lift. Plus, I kept pregnancy diaries – back when I thought I knew the real meaning of ‘being tired’.
Here at FashTravels, I aim to offer first-hand UK, and worldwide, destination and hotel reviews, more often including video content, as well as top ten lists, family day out ideas, couples breaks, advice articles, and travel advice…
“My holiday saviour. Thank you Catherine, you have taken all of the stress out of my holiday planning. Before I came across FashTravels, I was endlessly searching and searching for information on Thailand; where’s good to go, what to expect, what to visit. I am now planned, booked and confident that I will make the most out of my trip. Next time FashTravels will be my first port of call.” Abi Hutchinson, @_lady_abi
